RE: Ripped Off??????

Check out www.hyundai-forums.com for info on that code. IIRC there is a post there with all of the hyundai specific codes and what they mean. We are on our 5th Hyundai because the warranty is bullet proof. Any issues are always taken care of. Plus it lasts longer than the bank loan so I don't get whacked with a car payment plus a repair bill. Hyundai is very specific about a few things to be sure things run right and your warranty stays intact. Be sure the timing belt is done before 60k miles. One mile over and you are SOL if it breaks. Also do NOT let anyone change your tranny fluid on it unless it is Hyundai's fluid. I have heard too many horror stories of slipping / ruined transmissions because the independent guy used the wrong stuff and said it was comparable to the OEM fluid. They test the fluid on all failed trannies. If it isn't the right stuff too bad. As for the charge... I'm afraid you got charged the going rate. I fix computers for a living. I think it is similar to what the mechanic said earlier in the post. If I spend my time diagnosing something and the user decides to fix it themselves with the info from my skills I loose.

RE: Blown Tranny on 6.0L 2007 Chevy, 26,000 Miles

I'm glad to hear Volunteer Chevy took good care of you. Although I don't have a GM product I have heard very good things about that dealer even though it is an hour from me. I hope it didn't ruin your stay in Gatlinburg. The weather has been awesome here lately.

RE: Camping w/o reservations in the Smokys

I'm afraid it is still awesome here in the smokies for the leaves and all of the other fall festivals going on. Today it is almost 70 with not a cloud in the sky. Too bad I put the pink stuff in after last weekend's trip..... This area is such a draw for RV'ers and tourism that I wouldn't go anywhere here without a reservation. I just wouldn't want to drag the trailer from place to place util I found a spot.

RE: Where to find mattress foam

These guys do custom foam near me in Knoxville. I have driven past them several times and their sign says stuff about custom work for boats and RVs. knoxfoam.com

RE: camping

Family time would be number one. When it rains and you are all chased inside that little box it makes you closer in more ways than physically. It's a very easy way to just get away. Sometimes we only go less than an hour from home but it still counts. Do you have a project / product in mind yet? I'm sure if you browse around here at people's mods or modifications you might find inspiration. Most of these mods come from people simply trying to make their campsite or camper more user friendly.

RE: post pictures of your HTT

Is that the C191? Thats the one we looked at before we decided on the smaller c17 for less weight. I see the grill in the last picture. How does that work for you? I haven't used it yet because I thought the hose would keep the grill to close to that front bunk.

RE: A question about 17 foot hybrid single axle

Provided the tires are in good shape and you check tire pressure before heading out each time choose the trailer with the layout you like best. If the tires haven't been replaced since new in 02 they will need to be. We chose ours because of our weight restrictions. Number of axles was never a thought since our pop up only had 1 axle as well.

RE: Class C with Hybrid Bunk end?

I just said to my wife the other day that I wonder why they don't make a motor home with tip out bunks. I thought I had the new million dollar idea :) The tip outs give so much more room in a smaller case I figured it would work in that application as well. Oh well back to the drawing board.

RE: Trip to Wishon/Shaver......sick kid...Childrens Hospital

I'm just finishing up a few days of croup with my 7 month old and we spent Sunday AM at East Tennessee Childrens Hospital. I remember when my older son had it. Definately not fun but I'm glad it all worked out. I wouldn't have ever imagined that a hospital would have hook ups. There must be an RV'r on the hospital board :)

RE: Sticky Gel to keep items still in RV

Velcro is another option. We use it to hold the toothbrush holder & kitchen utinsil cady in place on the counters. The not slip pad stuff is great in the cabinets.

RE: Starting the search and compromise!

R-Vision makes a C191. http://www.rvwholesalers.com/design/TrailCruiser_Exp/TrailCruiser_Exp/th_C191.gif We really liked it and it is the model that got us looking to get out of our pop-up. We ended up ordering the next size down (C17) because we were uncomfortable with being overweight with the C191 The biggest difference is we lost the couch. We end up calling our dinette the couch because we keep it folded down. We always eat outside unless it is raining. The other reason we liked it was it has a 'dry' toilet, meaning you are not sitting in the shower to do your buisiness. Other models we looked at had a 'wet' setup to save space. IIRC the domed ends on the KZ's have been problematic for some because you have to open the zippers from the outside instead of inside.

RE: Towing a shrink-wrapped boat?

I see them traveling on I 40 shrink wrapped from SeaRay's facility in Knoxville all the time. I concour about checking the height and complete seal.

RE: Power Cords

My Trail_Cruiser C17 from R-Vision uses the detachable one. I like it because I can pack it much neater in a storage cabinet instead of slopped all over the under seat storage my popup used to have. I can also keep it locked up when not set up. If I was a thief the ones with the mouse hole would be an easier target at storage yards or driveways. Yank it out, cut it and off they go.

Man run over by Pop Up

Hopefuly this isn't a repost since I now mainly watch the Hybrid thread here. I found the story when I checked out the paper online in PA where I used to live. Online video story from Pottstown Mercury Hopefully it isn't someone from here but just another safety reminder to make sure the wheels are chocked before unhitching.

RE: what is the best 17' or 19' hybrid out there??

Trail Cruiser C17 works with a minivan and the bathroom is a 'dry' bathroom. (Yes I have been to the scales to insure I'm under my max.) Salesman wanted to sell me the 19 footer because it was on the lot but the dry weight is too much.

I bet they forgot to set the reserve price appropriately and are now backpedaling. Username changed recently with only one feedback score.... hmmm?

RE: HTT parking lights on...

I use a fuse accross the prongs on the cable. For me it is a heck of alot easier to do than string lights while keeping an eye on my 2 sons. It provides just enough lite to walk around the site and trailer after dark. I do unplug at bed time though.

Geez... How fast was he going when he hit that. If you look close they were towing a trailer behind the 5er too.

RE: How do I look? Pontiac Montana towing Jayco 1701 Ex-Port

Good to see this didn't turn into a minivan bashfest.... My dealer originaly set me up with 4 links. I now use 6 after measuring wheelwell heights front and rear once loaded. Trailer & van ride nice and level now. Easiest way I found to do this was by sticking a post-it note on each fender and writing my measurements on them as I measured around the van. Unhitched, Hitched, 4 links, 5, and 6 until I was pretty close to my unhitched levels. Post it notes mase the process really quick.
